F = Fountains of Paris, French Faves - A to Z Challenge 2015

Flowing water is a joy to watch, especially when it's part of a fountain design.

The Bull and the Deer, shown above at the Trocadero Fountains, is part of the Jardins de Trocadero, and the Warsaw Fountains.  They were near the lower columns in the aerial view below which shows the long line of fountains running down either side. The Warsaw Fountains have 46 water-jet spouts and 20 powerful water cannons. Unfortunately, they were not operational in this image.

Fountain of the Innocents
Fountaine des Innocents

Commissioned for the royal entry of King Henry II into Paris in 1549, the free-standing version above is a representation of the original, and only a small part of the overall design. The Fountain of the Innocents is the oldest monument fountain in Paris. More information can be found by clicking the link on the name. Its history is connected to cholera and contamination of the drinking water. . .

Fountaines de la Concorde (one of two)
Fountain of River Commerce and Navigation

These fountains provide a popular photo opportunity location. Small and large spouts of water encircle the fountain, and the statues are embellished with gilding. Remember the old movies of the past with shots of the fountains of Paris? This is one of those meeting spots where visitors like to congregate, calculate their next move, take a photo or two, and continue on. The Fontaines de la Concorde are actually two monument fountains located in the Place de la Concorde in the center of Paris.

NOTE:  I didn't observe the Versailles fountain show, but that is another venue for observing fountains.
